Coaches with a story

Keith Lynch & Nick Weyer met over 20 years ago, both products of the, infamous, Danbury Hatters Wrestling Program. 

Lynch and Weyer came together to coach Youth Wrestlers at the ole’ Beast Club in Danbury. Helping to form some of the best wrestlers on the Nationally ranked list, as youngsters.

In late 2021, Lynch and Weyer formed The Refinery Regional Training Center, (RTC), a USA Wrestling Chartered Club.  The goal is to establish and continue strong bonds with the local and town programs to enhance their programs for youth and high school kids. In The Refinery's debut season, the team grabbed All New England Team Runner-Up, in addition to, 5 New England Champs, 13 New England Placers7 Connecticut State Champs, a Most Outstanding Wrestler of New England and a team full of placers.

Prior to The Refinery, Lynch served as a Youth Coach at the Club level, helping to start and turn out some of the top wrestlers in the area.  Lynch also has served as the Assistant Coach to the Danbury High School Wrestling program since 2016. Winning 3 New England Championships, 6 FCIAC Championships, 6 State Open Championships, 6 LL Championships during his tenure. Lynch’s Coaching Honors: State Class LL Assistant Coach of the Year - 2019, 2020 and National Wrestling Coaches Association, CT Assistant Coach of the Year - 2019. Lynch aided in placing numerous kids at Division I, II and III College level wrestling programs. 

Weyer began coaching in 2006 as a Danbury Youth Wrestling Coach. Weyer then served as Assistant Coach for Danbury High School in 2009- 2012. After 2012, Weyer started coaching at the Club level, working with top athletes from all over the Western Connecticut Area. 

The Refinery recently welcomed Matt Pangle to the coaching team, an Academic All-American graduate of Messiah University. Matt brings incredible skills, technique and a love for the sport. 

With a focus on technique, mental toughness, nutrition and physicality, The Refinery formula works magic. The Refinery will also continue to focus on supporting area public schools programs and coaches. We are excited for the 2022/2023 season ahead and all we have in store for the coming years ahead! 💪
